Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Daffodil Delight Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 2-1/8" x 5-1/2" of multi-colored thin stripes design from Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper, cut so the stripes are horizontal on the horizontal strip
- 3-7/8" x 4-1/4" from Old Olive Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 2-1/4" from Calypso Coral Cardstock
Lightly spritz the Old Olive rectangle with water and insert into the Seasonal Wreath 3D Embossing Folder so the wreath is centered on the cardstock. Place the folder with the cardstock inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Set aside to dry.
Adhere the strip of Bird Ballad Designer Series Paper to the front of the Daffodil Delight card in the center.
Mount the birds on a branch image from the Free As A Bird Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Memento Pad. Stamp once onto Grid Paper. WITHOUT RE-INKING, stamp it on the white rectangle so you get the three birds on the end of the branch in the center of the white rectangle.
Unlock the 2-1/4" Circle Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Slide in the stamped image and get the three birds on the branch centered in the punching area, and punch.
Put the stamped birds on a branch circle punch out on some Grid Paper to protect your work surface. You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring the image with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Soft Suede Markers to color in the branch.
Use the Light and Dark Calypso Coral Markers to color in the flowers.
Use the Light and Dark Old Olive Markers to color in the leaves.
Use the Light Old Olive Marker to add highlights to the birds where the shadow hash marks are located.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Markers to color in the birds.
Use the Light Soft Suede Marker to color in the birds' beaks.
Use the Light Pool Party Marker to color in the sky all around the birds on a branch image.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink and to help blend the colors.
If the Old Olive rectangle is dry, proceed with the next step.
Tip: You can speed up drying with a Heat Tool if needed.
Rub a Sponge Dauber across the open Old Olive Ink Pad to get it inky. Rub off some of the ink on Grid Paper. Then, lightly rub the inky dauber over the raised leaves on the dry embossed Old Olive rectangle. Repeat until you have the color coverage you want. Get more ink on the Sponge Dauber as needed.
Tip: I just clean my Sponge Daubers when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Adhere the inked, dry embossed Old Olive rectangle to the front of the card in the center.
Adhere the colored birds on a branch circle punch out to the front of the card so it is centered in the wreath.
Mount the “hello” or “thank you” sentiment from the Free As A Bird Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Old Olive Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the small Calypso Coral rectangle.
Pick out the small label die from the Merry Christmas Dies that cuts out a label that is 1-3/8" long. Put it on top of the stamped sentiment on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is on the right side. Run through the tool.
Note: If you use the "thank you" sentiment, the tops and bottoms of some of the letters may be cut off slightly.
Adhere the sentiment cut out to the front of the card so it overlaps the bottom right side of the bird circle punch out.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of Crushed Curry 3/8" Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.
Tie a half knot in the center of the ribbon. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the ribbon knot to the front of the card at an angle so it overlaps the left end of the sentiment label cut out.
