Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Tranquil Tide Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Balmy Blue Cardstock
- 1-3/4" x 4" of green, blue, and purple brushstrokes design from Tranquil Textures Designer Series Paper, cut so the brushstrokes are horizontal
- 2-1/8" x 4-3/8" from Tranquil Tide Cardstock
- 2" x 4-1/4" from Whisper White Cardstock
WITHOUT adhering, lay the piece of Tranquil Textures Designer Paper on the bottom of the Balmy Blue rectangle.
Mount the sentiment of choice Block A or Block B. Ink it up with the Tranquil Tide Ink Pad. Stamp it about 1/4" above the designer paper on the right side of the Balmy Blue rectangle so it is about 1/4" from the right edge.
Tip: If you are using the longer sentiment, get it as close to the right edge of the Balmy Blue rectangle as possible.
As you are ready to stamp using the High Tide Set, place the cardstock on the Stampin' Pierce Mat. Using the mat will help you get a cleaner image each time you stamp. Put a piece of paper (Grid Paper works great) on top of the mat to protect it from ink.
Mount the line of flying birds image from the High Tide Set on Block H. Carefully ink up ONLY the three smallest birds on the one end by pressing it to the Balmy Blue Ink Pad. Stamp the birds on the Balmy Blue rectangle about 1" from the top edge and 1/4" from the right edge.
When happy with the stamping on the Balmy Blue rectangle, adhere the piece of Tranquil Textures Designer Paper to the bottom of the rectangle.
Cut a 9" piece of the Night of Navy Medium Baker's Twine. Fold the twine in half.
Lay the folded twine across the designer paper/ cardstock rectangle so it covers the seam between the two pieces. Flip the rectangle over and fold the ends of the folded twine over. Adhere the ends of the folded twine in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the Balmy Blue rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Tranquil Tide card.
Mount the cottage on the sea cliff image from the By The Bay Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on the bottom of the white rectangle so the left edge of the cottage is about 1/4" from the left edge and the top of the cottage is about 2-1/2" from the top edge. Leave the stamp on the block.
Re-ink the cottage on the sea cliff image with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on a Post-It Note so the top of the cottage is near the top of the Post-It Note where the adhesive is located.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut out the top of the cottage and plants along the top of the Post-It Note to create a mask. You don't have to cut out everything. Cut just barely inside the stamped lines.
Adhere the Post-It Note cottage and plants to the stamped image on the white rectangle.
Mount the more detailed lighthouse with the vertical line image from the High Tide Set on Block H. Ink it up with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on the white rectangle on the right side so the right edge of the lighthouse is about 1/4" from the right edge and the top of the lighthouse is about 1/2" from the top edge. Leave the stamp on the block. Leave the Post-It Note mask on the white rectangle.
Re-ink the lighthouse image with the Crumb Cake Ink Pad. Stamp it on a Post-It Note so one long side of the lighthouse is near the top of the Post-It Note where the adhesive is located.
Use Paper Snips to carefully cut out the lighthouse on the Post-It Note to create a mask. Cut just barely inside the stamped lines.
Adhere the Post-It Note lighthouse to the stamped image on the white rectangle over the Post-It Note mask of the cottage and plants.
If you haven't already done so, cut a Stamping Sponge into quarters. This makes it easier to control the sponge when using it and gives you more sponge pieces to work with.
Rub the rounded edge of a sponge quarter across the open Balmy Blue Ink Pad to get it inky. Lightly dab the inky sponge quarter on the top of the stamped and masked white rectangle to create the sky . Get more ink on the sponge quarter as needed. Keep adding ink until you get the look you want.
Tip: I just clean my sponge pieces when I'm done using them by running them under water until no more color is coming off. Then, I let them air dry. They may be stained, but they are clean enough to use with any color of ink in the future.
Remove the Post-It Note masks.
Tip: Put the masks inside the cases with the corresponding stamp sets to use again on future projects.
Working with one color at a time, squeeze the lid of an ink pad to get a pool of ink in the lid. Open the pad but leave the lid exposed. Pick up some ink from the lid using the Blender Pen. Color in the cottage and plants part of the stamped image. Get more ink on the Blender Pen as needed.
I used:
- Crumb Cake Ink on the dirt path and retaining walls below the cottage.
- Tranquil Tide Ink in a few places on the plants.
- Mint Macaron Ink on the rest of the plants and to blend.
- Night of Navy Ink on the cottage and shed roofs and cottage door.
Tip: Stroke the Blender Pen in one direction only. If you go back and forth, then the cardstock could start to pill and tear.
Tip Scribble on Grid Paper to clean the tip of the Blender Pen between each color until no more color is coming off.
Adhere the stamped, colored, and sponged cottage and lighthouse rectangle to the Tranquil Tide rectangle.
Use Stampin' Dimensionals to adhere the matted cottage and lighthouse rectangle to the front of the card on the left side so it is about 1/2" from the top edge and about 3/8" in from the left side.
Cut a 16" piece of the Night of Navy Medium Baker's Twine. Fold the twine in half.
Tie a small bow in the center of the folded twine. Trim the ends.
Use a Mini Glue Dot to adhere the twine bow to the front of the card at a slight angle on the right side of the matted cottage and lighthouse image so it is centered over the twine already on the card front.
