V intage style fun fold card with interlocking pieces using Stampin' Up! products.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock and designer paper pieces to the following sizes using a cutting and scoring tool:
- card from Terracotta Tile at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 2-1/8" and 6-3/8"
- 2 pieces each 1-7/8" x 5-1/4" from Sahara Sand Cardstock
- 2 pieces each 1-3/4" x 5-1/8" of mottled pink, tan, and orange pink with faint white medallions textile design from Woven Threads Designer Series Paper
- 3-1/2" x 4-1/2" from Sahara Sand Cardstock
- 2-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Very Vanilla Cardstock
- 1-1/2" x 3-1/2" from Rococo Rose Cardstock
Fold the card on both score lines so the flaps meet in the center.
Adhere the pieces of Woven Threads Designer Paper to the strips of Sahara Sand Cardstock and then to the front flaps of the Terracotta Tile card.
Pick out the rectangle die from the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders. Put it on top of the large Sahara Sand rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool. Run through the tool.
Lightly spritz the Sahara Sand rectangle frame with water and insert into the rectangle Heirloom Frames 3D Embossing Folder. Line it up on the embossing portion of the folder. Place the folder with the paper inside on your die cutting and embossing tool and run through the machine. Set aside to dry.
Tip: I used a couple of Mini Glue Dots and adhered the center, solid rectangle cut out when using the rectangle die to the center of the smooth rectangle in the center of the embossing folder. This makes it easier for me to line up the rectangle frame inside the embossing folder.
Tip: You may need to use cardboard shims with the embossing folder.
Mount the long, textile image from the Woven Heirlooms Set on Block I. Ink it up with the Sahara Sand Ink Pad. STAMP OFF on Grid Paper, then stamp across the top of the vanilla rectangle. Repeat, remembering to STAMP OFF each time, until you’ve stamped across the entire vanilla rectangle.
Mount the large sentiment of choice from the Woven Heirlooms Set on Block D. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the stamped vanilla rectangle.
Pick out the rectangle die from the Heirloom Frames Dies & 3D Embossing Folders again. Put it on top of the stamped vanilla rectangle on a platform on your cutting and embossing tool so the sentiment is centered side to side and close to the top of the rectangle cut out in the center of the die. Run through the tool.
Mount the small flower swirl image from the Woven Heirlooms Set on Block A. Ink it up with the Rococo Rose Ink Pad. Stamp it in the lower left corner of the sentiment rectangle cut out.
If the rectangle frame is dry, proceed with the next step. Speed up drying if needed with the Heat Tool.
Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back of the dry embossed rectangle frame on one side only! Adhere the frame to the left flap of the card front so the frame is centered side to side and about ½” from top. BE SURE NOT TO ADHERE THE OTHER SIDE OF THE FRAME TO THE CARD FRONT!
Put the stamped sentiment rectangle upside down. Put a strip of Tear & Tape Adhesive on the back on the left side (this will be the right side when the rectangle is right side up). Adhere the sentiment rectangle to the right flap of the card front so the sentiment rectangle is centered inside the frame. BE SURE NOT TO ADHERE THE OTHER SIDE OF THE SENTIMENT RECTANGLE TO THE CARD FRONT!
Mount the large, flat, open-wing butterfly from the Butterfly Wishes Set to Block C. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it on the strip of Rococo Rose Cardstock near one end.
Unlock the Butterfly Duet Punch. Hold the punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Get the butterfly image centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch. Leave the punch unlocked.
Use a couple of Mini Stampin' Dimensionals on the large bottom wings of the large butterfly punch out to adhere it to the lower right corner of the dry embossed frame. Make sure the dimensional adhesive does NOT touch the right front flap of the card or the sentiment rectangle in the center of the frame!
Mount the small, flat, open-wing butterfly from the Butterfly Wishes Set to Block A. Ink it up with the Terracotta Tile Ink Pad. Stamp it on the other end of the strip of Rococo Rose Cardstock.
Hold the unlocked Butterfly Duet Punch upside down so you can see the punching area. Get the butterfly image centered in the corresponding punching area. Punch.
Use a Mini Stampin' Dimensional to adhere the small butterfly punch out to the upper left corner of the dry embossed frame.
Cut a small piece of Sahara Sand 5/8" Woven Threads Trim from the spool so you have 5 bumps along the top edge. Pull the string from the bottom edge to make the trim turn into tassels (if it isn’t already pulled free).
Put a 1-1/4” strip of Tear & Tape on the bottom left corner of the dry embossed frame. Remove the protective backing and adhere the piece of trim to the Tear & Tape.
