P retty birthday card using retiring Stampin' Up! products. The sentiment can easily be changed to make it a different type of card.
Project Recipe
Cut cardstock pieces to the following sizes using a Stampin' Trimmer:
- card from Granny Apple Green Cardstock at 5-1/2" x 8-1/2" and scored at 4-1/4"
- 4" x 5-1/4" from Granny Apple Green Cardstock
- 2-1.4" x 4" from Whisper White Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Daffodil Delight Cardstock
- 1" x 4" from Granny Apple Green Cardstock
- scrap of Daffodil Delight Cardstock
Insert the large Granny Apple Green rectangle into the Petal Burst Embossing Folder. Place the folder with the card stock inside on a Cutting Pad on the Big Shot Platform at the lowest possible setting. Place a Cutting Pad on top of the folder and run through the Big Shot.
Mount the large group of two daffodils and one bud image from the You're Inspiring Set on Block E. Ink it up with the Memento Ink Pad. Stamp it on the white rectangle so the bottoms of the stems/leaves go off the bottom edge and the flowers are as far to the left side as possible.
Place the daffodils stamped white rectangle on top of some paper on your work surface (Grid Paper works great). You need to make sure that you protect your work surface with paper as the Stampin' Blends Markers do bleed through.
Start coloring with the Stampin' Blends Markers. The markers have a brush tip for coloring in larger areas and a fine tip for coloring in smaller areas. Use the dark colors first and then the light colors to blend the colors and color in the spaces. Work on one area at a time so the inks will be wet and will blend easier.
Use the Light and Dark Mango Melody Markers to color in the flower trumpets and the flower bud.
Use the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight Markers to color in the rest of the flowers.
Use the Light and Dark Granny Apple Green Markers to color in the leaves and stems.
Use the Color Lifter Marker as needed to remove excess ink.
Adhere the 1" x 4" strip of Daffodil Delight Cardstock to the back of the stamped and colored white strip along the top long edge so about 1/8" of Daffodil Delight Cardstock will show.
Adhere the matted, stamped, and colored white strip to the top of the dry embossed Granny Apple Green rectangle so it is about 1/2" from the top.
Mount the single line sentiment of choice from the You're Inspiring Set on Block G. Ink it up with the Night of Navy Ink Pad. Stamp it in the center of the Granny Apple Green strip.
Pick out the long, single, open banner die from the Bunch of Banners Dies. Place the stamped sentiment on the Granny Apple Green strip on a Cutting Pad on top of the Magnetic Platform on your Big Shot. Place the banner framelit on top so the sentiment is on the left side. Place another Cutting Pad on top and run through the Big Shot.
Poke out the banner with the sentiment and keep it. Also use the paper-piercing tool on the Take Your Pick to poke out the outline banner that is probably stuck inside the die, remove it, and throw it away. If you don't remove it, then you will have trouble cutting with this die the next time you use it.
Adhere the sentiment banner cut out to the card front so it is in the upper right corner of the white strip and the right side of the banner hangs off the right side. Use Paper Snips to trim off excess cardstock.
Cut a 5" piece of the Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.
Lay the ribbon across the cardstock layers so it covers the bottom seam between the white layer and the dry embossed green layer. Flip the layers over and fold the ends of the ribbon over. Adhere the ends of the ribbon in place with pieces of Tear & Tape Adhesive.
Remove the protective backing from the Tear & Tape strips and add SNAIL to the back of the dry embossed Granny Apple Green rectangle. Adhere it to the front of the Granny Apple Green card.
Cut a 3-1/2" piece of the Night of Navy 1/2" Gingham Ribbon.
Slide one end of the ribbon under the ribbon on the card front so it is centered under the daffodil stems and tie it in place using a half knot. Trim the ends.
Unlock the small, rounded-petal, 6 petal punch from the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack. Slide the scrap of Daffodil Delight Cardstock into the punch. Punch.
Adhere the flower punch out to the lower right corner of the card front.
Use the mini spatula on the Take Your Pick to carefully peel up a large Basic Black dot from a sheet of Faceted Dots making sure that you get the adhesive backing as well. Adhere it to the center of the small flower punch out.
